About RCBE

Background

The Research Center for Biomedical Engineering was established in 2016, as an initiative of the Center of Excellence Program of the Ministry of Education of Republic Indonesia, located in the Faculty of Engineering of the Universitas Indonesia.

Our objective is to improve the quality of life by developing materials, devices, and technologies underpinned by multidisciplinary research and enhancing natural indigenous resources.

Our model of research-led innovation in healthcare entails identifying relevant theories, selecting appropriate technologies, and developing new solutions where necessary. Each solution then needs rigorous evaluation for safety, effectiveness, and cost implications before promotion to healthcare systems.

All this requires close working with industry, the Ministry of Health, and across many disciplinary boundaries. The RCBE is the link in the hub of experts in biomedical engineering, clinicians from hospital medicine, and healthcare industry.

  • To increase utilization of natural-indigenous resources for enhancing the quality of human health
  • To develop materials, devices, and technologies for medical applications
  • To collaborate with health-related stakeholders including academics, communities, industries, and government to accelerate the implementation of research products in society
